You will get a little message that comes up that says that you must redial your internet connection. On properties, click on 'Advanced' or "Properties" and tick the box that says 'Allow other users to Connect through this computers internet connection' right-click on your internet connection and select properties. If you're on Windows, do Windows+R and then ncpa.cpl.I managed to get mine to work without a router, and just an ethernet cable. I had the same problem, and have the same usb modem.
